What is the better option? Direct cremation vs Traditional funeral

You may be wondering… what is the best way to say goodbye from your loved one? We wanted to lay every aspect in balance between the two options (a traditional funeral and a direct creation) and let you choose what is best for you.

1. The costs of direct cremation vs traditional funeral

                                                        Traditional Funeral                    Direct Cremation

                                                        4 000£ up to 10 000£                    990£ up to 1200£

As you can see there is a big difference between the two. The expenses you have with a direct cremation are substantially lower and here's why: there is no need for a premium casket, burial plot, embalming and a funeral service. If you choose to cremate your loved one you of course have the option to hold a small ceremony, but the expenses won’t be as large.

2. Where and when can you have a ceremony?

Traditional Funeral

  • You have to hold the funeral in a designated time frame
  • You can choose from the burial grounds your city has to offer

Direct Cremation

  • If you choose to, you can have a ceremony in the memory of your loved one whenever you want
  • You can choose a place that holds a lot of meaning for you and your family

For some people funerals are an important opportunity to say goodbye. In this case a traditional ceremony would be the best choice. However you can still have a ceremony if you choose to cremate your loved one. This choice is ultimately a very personal one, and try to remember what your loved one would have wanted.

3. Environmental benefits

When you think about which option is the most environmentally friendly it has to be direct cremation. Cremation is generally considered to be a more environmentally friendly option than burial, as it uses less resources that can be harmful to our planet. Burial often uses harsh chemicals to embalm the remains for a funeral service.

Also the lack of a casket also means avoiding metal that doesn’t decompose easily. Other ways choosing direct cremation contributes to a sustainable environment include reduced carbon emissions because of the limited transportation involved.

Now all that is left to do is put everything in balance and choose what is best for your family in order to honor the passing of your loved one. We are here to help you with any question you might have, don’t hesitate to contact us.
